Serve in the Kurdistan region of Northern Iraq where you and the team will help run a conversational English camp for displaced Yazidis. Your students will be young, between the ages of 5 and 15. There is also the opportunity to work in training local Kurdish teachers as well for those with teaching experience.
You do not need to have any prior teaching experience to serve. The organization we partner with will equip you with all the tools you need to be successful in the classroom.
There are 3 main purposes of this trip:
- Bless the people with education. A huge need in the region, quality English instruction will open doors for the future while providing structure and a sense of purpose to the lives of displaced families.
- Bless the land with spiritual nourishment. You go as the redeemed – the physical embodiment of a spiritual God. We send you to intentionally and graciously love a hurting people in a very dark area. As a teacher, you will have ample opportunity to develop genuine friendships with your students.
- Encourage the goer with exposure. We hope that your service this summer will change the course of your entire life as you develop a clearer idea of where or to what you are being called long term.
To participate in this trip, you will also need to attend Sahara Challenge. This button takes you to our Sahara Challenge registration page. Once your application is received, you will be contacted by our director of mobilization for next steps.
